Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) decisions
SMC No. SMC1236/17
The Scottish Medicines Consortium has advised (August
2019) that empagliflozin with linagliptin (Glyxambi ®) is
accepted for restricted use within NHS Scotland in adults
with type 2 diabetes mellitus:
. to improve glycaemic control when metformin and/or
sulphonylurea, and one of the monocomponents of
Glyxambi ® do not provide adequate glycaemic control,
or
. when already being treated with the free combination of
empagliflozin and linagliptin.
Its use is restricted in line with previous advice on
empagliflozin and linagliptin.
