Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) decisions SMC No. 736/11 The Scottish Medicines Consortium has advised (October 2012) that ﬂuticasone propionate with formoterol fumarate metered dose inhaler (Flutiform ®) is accepted for Respiratory system use within NHS Scotland for the regular treatment of asthma where the use of a combination product (an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta2 agonist) is appropriate: . for patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and ‘as required’ inhaled short-acting beta2 agonist, or . for patients already adequately controlled on both an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta2 agonist. SMC No. SMC2178 ▶In children The Scottish Medicines Consortium has advised (June 2019) that ﬂuticasone propionate with formoterol fumarate (Flutiform ®) is accepted for use within NHS Scotland for the regular treatment of asthma in children aged 5 to 12 years where the use of a combination product (an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta2 agonist) is appropriate: . for patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and ’as required’ inhaled short-acting beta2 agonist, or . for patients already adequately controlled on both an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta2 agonist.
