In the treatment of severe cases, the use of injectable thiamine is justified to correct the disorder as rapidly as possible, but is no longer justified when symptoms have improved. Vitamin B deficiency often occurs in association with other vitamin B-complex deficiencies, 1 especially in alcoholic patients. Thiamine is also called aneurine.
